You can experience loss on many levels, whether it be a loved one dying, experiencing a break-up or losing a close friend or partner through separation. I have worked with young teens, adults and elderly clients experiencing loss and bereavement.

As a trained bereavement counsellor, I recognise through my work with clients that we all grieve in different ways. One of my elderly clients said “ I feel like an imposter seeking bereavement counselling. I feel I don’t need it, I am fine.” I knew immediately that she was not okay and felt a sense of shame in seeking support. I brought my observation to her attention and that’s when she started to really OPEN UP about HER GRIEF. Noticing your client is a way of connecting to their grief and enabling them to understand their loss on a deeper level.
